MVME1600 accepts few different boot firmwares:

Motorola Firmware – In this case 2.06A. Version 3.XX doesn’t work on MVME1600.





PPC1BUG – The standard Motorola debugger.



Supported disk/network controllers in PPC1BUG 2.3:

Open Firmware – GUI debugger designed for Motorola Powerstack series, however it runs on MVME1600.

Motorola AIX requires PPC1BUG. AFAIK AIX 4.1.4(AOS 1.3) doesn’t work on PPC1BUG 1.3.

Currently I have PPC1BUG 1.3, 1.9 , 2.3

AOS 1.3 can be installed on MVME1600 with PPC1BUG >= 1.9. Consider using 2.3 if you would like to add
MPMC202, so you will have all I/O ports in front side and transition board 760-01 is not needed.
